Of New Edinburgh Colony

Welcome
to the Donojii Observatory and Research Facility. Located on Mount Donojii just
outside of New Edinburgh proper, the newly-built facility houses the most modern and
top-of-the-line research equipment of both Federation and non-Federation design. It
is independently owned and funded, and run by a group of somewhat reserved and
controversial scientists. Their main lines of research include local astrophysics
along with research into varying forms of power sources, although other lines of
investigation are up for conjecture. |

 |
Built in 2385,
The Observatory is privately owned and operated by Dr. Tolian Soran. He is assisted
by Dr. Arvel Mostyn, a self-proclaimed hermit and brilliant scientist. Together,
they run most of the research projects that are carried out in this facility. |
Occasional
findings are presented and published in Astronomical Journals and in the local newspaper.
Once a year there is an open-house where the local people are invited to visit and
take a tour, however, aside from this, no one is allowed without express permission from
Dr. Soran.
The actual
buildings themselves were modeled after the Griffith Observatory on old Earth. Even
the elaborate Cistine Chapel-like ceiling murals were meticulously reproduced, with only a
few minor adjustments to reflect the time and the locale. |

|
Along with
Doctors Soran and Mostyn, the staff consists of a team of interns and assistants, some of
whom are students from the local Colonial Institute of New Edinburgh. Local natives
are employed to maintain the grounds and the buildings, as well as technicians to help
with the less delicate equipment. Everyone is sworn to secrecy and security is
tight. Click

Thank you
for visiting. Please come again.

Many thanks to
the Griffith Observatory for building such a lovely facility after which we could model
our own ;-) |
