Background:
Gueveris, probably not his real name, is an unkempt, unsightly character who has taken up residence upon the front steps of the governor's compound. No one knows for sure about his background or true identity. Perhaps once a conventional member of society, Gueveris is now content to live near the Governor, performing his various "duties" as he calls them. He sings and recites poetry, often of his own composition. He also acts as a loudspeaker for colony news and gossip, spouting such 'information' to passers-by. he also tries to warn people of upcoming dangers, claiming to have the power to see into the future. Though sometimes he can be quite annoying, most of the denizens of New Edinburgh have come to regard him as part of the charm, indeed, part of the scenery of the city. It is often said that you haven't really seen New Edinburgh until you have seen and spoken to Gueveris.
Personality:
| Gueveris, like many other 'village idiot/hobos', is slightly off-base. Though, his prophecies, and original poetry and songs hint at an extreme intelligence deep within. Some people have even speculated that he is some sort of undercover SBI agent or something, but nothing has ever been proved. To those people who are afraid of him, he can appear very intimidating and even creepy. But in reality he's quite harmless, and even helpful. The Governor herself sees to it that he is well-provided for, though he refuses to leave the front steps of her compound, even for a warm, comfy room inside. Though, on occasion when the weather is particularly nasty, he might sit for a while in the kitchen area. Trysta often takes advantage of these moments to try to gain a little insight into the funny little man. There are many secrets within his disheveled head, and Trysta is determined to find them out. |
